General information

Directions

We start at St. Antonius Church at the market in Hasselfelde. At the traffic light junction we turn right into "Stieger Straße". At the Hassel river we turn left into "Kittelstraße", which transitions into a field path at the end. The path leads us over the Hassel meadow to the "Domäne", a farmstead with a bus stop at B242. At the farmstead we turn left again into a wide gravel path and continue to the country road L 95. We cross it to the right and then walk towards the village of Stiege.

In the village, we pass Stiege castle and the church, cross the main street and walk along "Lange Straße" towards the station, passing the stave church Stiege. Behind the station, we turn left and then after a right curve continue straight ahead. Across a meadow through a small forest always straight ahead.

At the stop of the Harz narrow-gauge railway "Birkenmoor" continue straight ahead. Always further south, we cross the little river Beere (border of the federal states Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia). At the forestry "Birkenmoor" half left (straight) following the "Old Post Road". We pass close to the Neustadt reservoir on the left and then turn right towards the Hohnstein castle ruins. From the castle ruins it goes downhill towards Neustadt. On the way down into the town we make a sharp left once. In the town center we reach the destination, St. George Church.
