The mountain meadow nature trail around Benneckenstein is a family and stroller-friendly themed and circular hiking trail. The diversity of the mountain meadows in harmony with people and nature is described on various display boards / stations and an accompanying booklet. Children can get to know the typical Harz mountain plants and animals as well as the healing powers of some meadow herbs.
The Harz miners created a gem that has survived to this day: the mountain meadows. We marvel at the wealth of species and the joy of color in the meadows and should be aware that this meadow idyll is not a matter of course. The life of the Harz population in the Middle Ages and beyond was hard and arduous and often not at all idyllic. Created through extensive use, the meadows depend on the continuation of traditional management. Without an adapted agricultural use or care, the mountain meadows would disappear.

From the starting point "Waldschneise" in Benneckenstein:
► we go left past the Waldbühne to a fork in the road just before the Hotel "Harzhaus".
► Continue right towards Ziegenkopfecho. After we were able to enjoy a beautiful view here, the path leads us to the Pfeiferberg mountain.
