Circular hike with many highlights - Stiege station with the smallest turning loop in Europe, a church that moved into the village, the Stiege ponds, the Meriansblick in Hasselfelde and much more.
The approx. 15 km long circular hiking trail takes you through the small and idyllic Harz town of Stiege with its lakes, which is well worth seeing and leads directly to the town of Hasselfelde. The tour meanders over extensive meadows with a fantastic view of the Harz Mountains such as Brocken mountain and Wurmberg mountain, as well as along the rails of the Selketalbahn. Shortly before Hasselfelde you reach the Meriansblick, an observation point with a place to rest. Arrived in Hasselfelde, the path leads you past the train station to the tourist information office with Heimatstube and Blumenau Museum, the St. Antoniuskirche to the spa gardens. Cross this and follow the path of the German emperors and kings back to Stiege. Shortly before the Stiege domain, you should make a detour to the "Am Lerchenberg" observation point with the Brocken panorama. The circular hiking trail is easy to hike without much effort and offers magical views.
Note / recommendation: If the 15 km seems a bit too long, you have the option of ending the tour as a stretch tour in Hasselfelde after approx. 6 km and taking the bus or the Harzer Schmalspurbahn back to Stiege.
Due to the change in the forest in the Harz Mountains, forest work can lead to short-term closures and relocations. More information on forest change can be found here>
