Schützenfest

The Braunlager Schützengesellschaft von 1689 e.V. currently has around 185 members.

Once a year, in cooperation with the Braunlager sports clubs, what is probably the town's biggest social event, the folk and shooting festival, is organised. Today, as in the past, the shooting for the king is carried out in freehand shooting.
The highlight is the big parade in which all the local clubs present themselves. The highlight is the grand parade in which all the local clubs present themselves. Traditionally, shooting clubs, bands and fanfare marchers from other towns also take part in the parade.
A marquee with live music, various stalls and merry-go-rounds await the visitors to celebrate on the Schützenplatz Braunlage.

Saturday, 15 July
From 09:00 am onwards serenades with 3 music bands at all shooters and friends of the
Shooting Society throughout Braunlage

Friday, 21. July

15:30 - 18:00 hrs Shooting of the king's target by the shooting kings, the
mayor and the chairman, king's shooting (ladies and men)
20:00 hrs Shooters line up at Blueberry Hill and march out to the shooting ground
21:00 hrs Festival opening in the festival tent with marching in of the shooting company and introduction of the still reigning shooting kings. Musical entertainment by a DJ and the Walkenried marching band

Saturday, 22 July

from 09:30 a.m. Wake-up call with the Walkenried marching band
from 10:30 a.m. Traditional silver cleaning at the rifle king's and presentation of the 2022 king's shield
from 2:00 p.m. The town council welcomes the riflemen at the town hall. The marksmen from Braunlage, Hohegeiß and St. Andreasberg
15:00 hrs Marching of the shooting clubs with the majesties and flags to pick up the guest shooters and clubs at the large car park for the big parade through the town to the shooting ground
16:00 hrs Entertainment in the festival tent by all marching bands and bands from the
festive procession
from 16:30 h - 18:00 h Shooting for the king's targets, the Braunlager citizens' target
and the council cup (registration deadline 17:45 h)
19:00 h Presentation of the new shooting kings 2023 in the festival tent

Sunday, 23. July

11:00 a.m. We invite all marksmen, residents and guests to the Great Folk and
Shooters' Breakfast in the marquee on the Schützenplatz. Welcome by the first
chairman; marching in and proclamation of the 2023 shooting kings;
member honours; presentation of the Volksbank discs by the Braunlager Volksbank, the councillor's cup and the citizen's disc as well as other prizes of honour. Between the honours, greetings and speeches. Musical entertainment will be provided.
A shooting breakfast will be offered to all visitors
From 2:00 p.m. meeting of the children at the "Neue Mitte" with a surprise for the
children
14:30 p.m. procession with the new shooting kings from the fairground to the "Neue Mitte",
pick up of the children and subsequent children's procession to the fairground
15:00 Traditional royal dance in the festival tent followed by musical
entertainment by the Braunlager "Harz Wald Trio"
