The Grube Samson mine in Sankt Andreasberg is one of the most important mining monuments in Europe.

Silver ore in particular was mined here from 1521 to 1910. For a long time, the Samson was one of the deepest mines in the world. Here is the world's only still operational "driving art", which is now a recognized international machine monument. The two water wheels are also impressive, the 9 m high turning wheel from 1820 and the 12 m high artificial wheel.
Today's building ensemble is the last completely preserved mine of the historical Upper Harz ore mining and has been part of the Upper Harz Water Management since 2010 as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Rammelsberg Mine, Old Town of Goslar and Upper Harz Water Management.
